After 4 years of hard work, jMonkeyEngine has announced the release of version 1.0of their 3D gaming library for Java. Prior to jMonkeyEngine, developing 3D games in java was quite difficult, as it required interacting directly with Java3D, or a thin layer ontop of OpenGL. jMonkeyEngine makes 3D game development much easier, providing a complete toolkit for developing powerful and high performance 3D games in Java. It's currently being used by several commercial game companies, as well as many open source Java gaming projects.
Congratulations to the jMonkeyEngine team for all their hard work, and their 1.0 release!
